Business Office Manager

Baylor Surgical Hospital of Las Colinas(BSHLC) is a Joint Commission
accredited with 7 OR's, 12 inpatient surgical beds and Emergency Room and
Imaging Services.
The Business Office Manager is an integral part of the hospital management
team and patient care process by supervision of all business office related
functions. They insure internal control criteria are met by enforcing
relative policies and procedures and protocols per USPI and BSHLC. They
coordinate the following business office functions: registration, insurance
verification and authorization, patient financial advocate, collections,
charge entry and auditing, and other various functions. They must have an
extensive business office operational background, preferable in a hospital
environment, with management experience as well. Additionally, they need
extensive experience with interpretation of managed care contracts, to
include HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Compensation, etc.

This individual works closely with the hospital Director's, Sr. Director's
and clinical team members. They report directly to the Chief Financial
Officer and will work closely with patients, family members, and
physician's office and their staff.

Primary Responsibilities:
Supervise members of the business office team for all business officer
functions
Provide training for business office positions, including training for
processes and database systems, to include hospital E.H.R.
Ensure financial information is fully explained and understood by patient
or hospital representatives.
Liaison between hospital business office and insurance carriers, patients,
family, surgeon, and staff to coordinate care and services during patient
care.
Approves appropriate payment plan options to include setting up monthly
payment plans, Charity Care applications to determine completion per
facility protocols, and other payment options.
Evaluate employee job performances and implement performance improvement or
disciplinary action when needed.
Establish and maintain personnel records and perform all payroll related
duties.
Ensures the hospital operations are within legal, regulatory and
accreditation standards as related to business office operations.
Ensure appropriate staffing needs are met per hospital budgetary
requirements.
Serves as a member of the hospitals performance improvement committees,
participating in and monitors PI and EDGE studies.
Assists in review of departmental policies and procedures as relative to
area.
Participates in the development of best practices or protocols within scope
of duties.
Accountable for on-going work submitted.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Primary Requirements:
High School or HS Equivalency diploma required.
College degree preferred.
3-5 years supervisory experience in a medical setting, preferably hospital.
Experience in medical terminology, CPT/ICD9 and ICD10, etc.)
Extensive knowledge of Managed Care contract interpretation, as well as
Medicare, Medicaid and other governmental payors.
Efficiency and accuracy with computer skills, to include Microsoft products
(MW Word, MS Excel, etc.).
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects, ability to
independently manage.
Excellent communication skills with staff, vendors and physicians.
