Sr. Java Developer

Role Synopsis:

Responsible for analysis, design, and construction of high quality, scalable, and robust Java-based applications for Internet environments. Be comfortable in developing requirements and design specifications for new and existing applications. Focus primarily on requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, system interfaces, and user interface.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop user interfaces to Internet-based applications that provide a rich web experience for users.
  • Design and develop back-end systems that are highly scalable, reliable, and fault tolerant.
  • Work closely with the Development Manager to play a lead role in the development team.
  • Introduce new technology, train and mentor developers on best practices and architectural patterns.
  • Responsible for setting standards and ensuring the team adopts Test Driven Development (TDD) practices within the Agile Framework.
  • Advise Development Manager on the planning of resources and time frames in relation to project deliverables.
  • Take responsibility for technical documentation, ensuring that all work is fully tested, well documented, and accessible to all parties.
  • Interface with application vendors to track new feature requests and software programs.
  • Continually seek to improve technical skills and keep current with industry standards and evolving technology.
Requirements:
  • At least 7 years of experience in development of custom applications, with a minimum of 2 years in architecting of custom applications.
  • Proven development lead skills, including scope of work, time estimation, and resource assignments.
  • Proficient in Agile Methodologies and test-driven development.
  • Ability to work in virtual teams.
  • Proficient in web client development (JavaScript, HTML, CSS), experience in GWT a plus.
  • Proficient in server-side Java development (Servlets/JSP/REST APIs).
  • Proficient in advanced PL/SQL development for Oracle.
  • Experience in Windows server environments with Apache and JBoss Application Server.
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: Delphi, Spring Framework, Workflow engines, Maven, ActiveX, C/C++.
