Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Senior Director Purchasing & Materials for an industry
leading publicly traded organization with over $5 billion in annual sales.
The Strategic Commodities Manager is responsible for leading a strategic
sourcing/commodity category of specialty products, managing a team of 3
buyers for specific commodities. Will work collaborative with
Manufacturing, Engineering, New Product Development, Supplier Quality and
Supply Chain to develop and translate value stream objectives and needs
into an overall sourcing strategy across commodity categories as well as
drive roadmap visibility across the company. The position requires
excellent focus, high energy and enthusiasm, forward thinking, strong
analytical capability, excellent problem solving, the ability to manage
change, solid execution and a commitment to help the company meet financial
objectives and exceed customer expectations.
Background Required:
* Strategic Sourcing (5 years minimum)
* Management or Supervision (3 years minimum)
* International/Global Sourcing
* History applying strategic sourcing/commodities strategies and rating
programs
* Comprehensive knowledge and use of Total Cost of Ownership
decision-making tools
* Cost and price analysis, upstream commodity cost analysis, engineering
processes, and new product development process
* Strong negotiation skills in both short term and long term agreements
* Knowledge of AIAG supplier quality processes such as (PPAP) Production
Part Approval Process
* Location: Dallas
* Education: Bachelor Degree (Engineering, Business, Finance, Logistics or
Supply Chain)
Background Preferred (but not required):
* Knowledge of Industrial Manufacturing processes
* History of supplier development improvement
* Advanced Degree (MBA or MS)
Other Essential Abilities and Skills:
* Demonstrates Leadership
* Strong analytical, organization and time management skills
* Excellent written & verbal communication
* Works well in a matrix environment across all levels
