Employment Case Manager

The purpose of Refugee Employment Services is to provide employment and job
readiness services. This
includes assisting refugee clients to find and retain employment leading to
economic self-sufficiency.

In the provision of employment services, the Employment Case Manager
conducts comprehensive intakes
and assessments of client needs and job skills; develops, implements,
monitors, and evaluates
individualized employment service plans; and assists the client with
American work culture orientation,
assists the client in acquiring the necessary soft skills to effectively
participate in job search, and connects
clients with job opportunities leading the client towards self-sufficiency.
The Employment Case Manager
(ECM) evaluates and follows up with client job retention.

The ECM prepares and maintains detailed case files, required forms, and
reports. The ECM participates in
agency and community activities to enhance services to refugees and
immigrants'. The ECM monitors and
evaluates client progress towards set goals in the service plan/ employment
service plan and adjusts plans
as necessary with clients.


Interviews clients through comprehensive intake and assessments. For
employment services, CM
assesses to determine the barriers to employment and to discover the
clients' job skills.

Develops, implements, monitors, evaluates, and updates individualized
employment and case
management service plans according to the guidelines set by the programs
and to review
progression towards goals with the client.

Counsels client individually, in family, or in other small groups on the
importance of early
employment and job retention, as a means to self-sufficiency.

Provides interview and job skill coaching and counseling/matching clients
to appropriate position
based on education and skills. Transports clients for job search, interview
opportunities, and initially
to the work site as needed.

Assist with Vocational ESL classes. Follow up with clients regarding job
search. Document class
attendance and relay as needed.

Networks with employers and builds good relationships within the business
community and provides
cultural orientation to employers about refugee and immigrant populations;
markets these
populations in general and also individuals with specific skill sets to
employers. Also, acts as a
mediator between the client and the employer to address cultural
orientation necessary for job
retention and provides new hire orientation for clients.

Documents all communication with and on behalf of the client in the case
file and reviews service
plans and performs follow-up to determine quantity and quality of service
provided to the client and
status of client's case.

Facilitate and/or conduct outreach activities including presentations to
service providers and
potential clients, community fairs, one on one engagement, and education on
available resources.

Identify and recruit eligible individuals and/or families for program
Follow up with individuals and/or families who have expressed interest in
services to ensure
successful enrollment.


Include but not limited to:
Bachelor's Degree in related field, or a combination of education and
Experience in job development and business networking with a working
knowledge of for-profit
corporate cultures preferred.

Familiarity with refugee populations and their needs.
Fluency in one of the following languages is a plus: Burmese, Nepali,
Arabic, Swahili or Somali.
Regular office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. This
position may require flexibility to
work various hours and possibly weekends depending on current caseload.
