Legal Data Analyst Transactional

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Business Development, and
following prescribed department, office and firm procedures, the Legal Data
Analyst is responsible for overseeing the quality control of data for
existing and new transactional matters with regard to metadata and
profiling, and identifying and resolving data quality issues in the firm's
experience and other databases. The Legal Data Analyst is expected to
perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior
service to the firm's attorneys, advisors and staff, efficient and
effective departmental operations, and an atmosphere of teamwork and
continuous improvement. Above all, the Legal Data Analyst must fulfill the
needs of the firm in a manner which is consistent with the Firm's Core

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Duties are performed throughout
every work day, as necessary): Data Migration
Review transactional matters for accuracy in their metadata (matter types,
sub-matter types, industries etc.), marketing descriptions and additional
Migrate data into the firm's experience database system, Umbria.
New Matter Assessment
Evaluate newly opened transactional matters to determine whether they were
properly processed and effect necessary changes including to re-organize
and/or merge related matters.
Matter and Data Management
Perform data accuracy procedures for transactional matters, including
updating and validating metadata (matter types, tags etc.), descriptions,
values etc. throughout the lifecycle of a matter.
Work with transactional attorneys and Director of Business Development to
determine when matters may be closed.
Work with transactional attorneys to gather additional data in order to
maintain the most robust information for each matter.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
Ability to read, write and speak English
Strong demonstrated understanding of the legal matter process
Demonstrated strong knowledge of transactional practices, terminology and
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; strong work ethic;
and poise and professionalism when interacting with contacts
Ability to prioritize workload, work independently and with a team, and
complete tasks under time pressure when necessary
Keen attention to detail
Strong computer skills including a working knowledge of databases
Ability and aptitude to learn new software applications quickly
Willingness to assume new tasks and responsibilities
Ability to work extended hours as necessary to fulfill responsibilities

Educational Qualifications/Job Experience Requirements:
Four year college degree
Paralegal degree or certificate preferred
At least two years of related experience working with transactional
practice support, preferably in a law firm or legal department
