Senior Software Engineer - Incubation, Microsoft Studios

We are looking for a senior generalist developer that loves to learn and tackle a variety of new challenges. The ideal candidate has experience with the wide variety of code it takes to deliver a top quality first-party experience including low-level systems, math, memory management, networking, optimization, workflow and integration of new technologies from other teams. They are looking to expand their skills in new areas and want to consistently improve underlying technology behind our products. They want to work in a game development savvy studio with passionate co-workers on products that will amaze the world. Candidate responsibilities:

- Implement core systems into products
- Integrate technology from across Microsoft and elsewhere into products
- Research and development on core systems across products

Candidate requirements:

- 5+ years professional coding in C/C++ and C#
- BS degree or equivalent experience
- Experience with core systems of real-time applications
- Excellent debugging and optimization skills in a multi-threaded environment
- Strong creative problem solving and algorithm development skills
- Self-motivated and comfortable working with the ambiguity of V1 and incubation products
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Track record of implementing and owning large architectural systems
- Demonstrated experience of one of the following areas: networking, multithreading, low-level Windows, Windows Store, real-time rendering, cross-platform development, 3D math

Bonus skills:

- Experience with commercial game engines such as Unity or Unreal
- Ability to be versatile and take on new areas and responsibilities 
- Startup experience, first version product or similar background
- Console/phone development and optimization experience
