In this role the Physical Distribution Manager, will manage the supply
chain process for effective execution of the physical and logistical
processes involved in providing the customers with quality products meeting
their requirements from the manufacturing facility. Oversees the
shipping/receiving departments as well as production scheduling and
purchasing.
The Physical Distribution Manager directly supervises five salaried
employees and indirectly manages 20-30 hourly shipping and receiving
personnel. He/she will be responsible for administering the organization's
policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing,
hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing
supervisors; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;
addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsibilities include:
*Maintain a safe work environment and accountability for safe work practices
*Participate in the preparation of budgets and utilize same for cost
measurement.
*Work closely with HR and direct reports to develop and implement an
effective labor relations rapport.
*Maintain computerized files relative to all areas of responsibility.
*Manage the performance and professional development of the hourly and
salary employees who are members of the Physical Distribution team.
*Establish appropriate metrics to measure results and drive appropriate
behaviors.
*Develop and implement formal departmental procedures as needed
*Perform other duties as assigned.
*Work closely with Sales and Marketing and the divisional SIOP team to
develop accurate forecasts.
*Manage all short lead time commitments and changes.
*Actively communicate plant capacity profile, constraints and required
machine downtime
*Manage plant order fulfillment activities.
*Establish a strong supply chain process
*Ensure accuracy of Materials and Master Data.
*Detailed involvement in all aspects of MRP execution
*Manage all forecasting and scheduling of production assets to meet
customer needs and optimize for lowest production costs
*Establish and maintain records to evaluate scheduling effectiveness.
*Plan and manage production order maintenance to align with customers'
needs.
*Coordinate the maintenance of scheduling rules or procedures with
production.
*Ensure raw materials and packaging materials are available to support
production.
*Manage inventory - turns, dollars and storage
*Lead inventory accuracy processes
*Develop and monitor target stock levels and replenishment cycle
*Coordinate all activities to minimize the risk of customer shipping errors
*Ensure accurate loading of customer shipments.
*Work to minimize waste through efficient warehouse design, storage and
shipping practices, and good housekeeping methods.
*Coordinate with all distribution team members' plans and processes to
reduce service variability.
*Work with the plant team to develop, manage and execute an effective
physical distribution process.

Qualifications:
*Bachelor's degree or 8 years of professional experience in lieu of a
degree (plus the requirements noted below).
*5 years of warehouse and inventory management in a manufacturing
environment with a proven ability to set and control inventory.
*2 or more years of supervisory experience.
*1 or more years of purchasing experience.
*Experience with an ERP warehouse management systems.
*1 or more years of experience in forecasting.
*Experience in adhering to quality management systems
*Experience maintaining a safe work environment
*Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
*Ability to climb stairs and ladders, lift up to 25 lbs, be exposed to hot
and cold temperatures, and extensive walking).
*Ability to support after hour calls and work extended hours.
*Ability to travel up to 10%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
*Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or Logistics.
*Demonstrated ability to develop knowledge of products and processes to
determine the financial impact of various production scheduling options
*Ability to collaborate with others to achieve scheduling requirements.
*Demonstrated ability to champion the voice of the customer
*Ability to increase employee involvement and engagement.
*Passion for results

*3 years physical distribution management experience
*SAP experience.
*CPIM
*Experience working in a union environment.
*Working knowledge of DOT regulations
5+ to 7 years of experience
Minimum Education - Bachelor's Degree
Willingness to Travel - Occasionally
Skills and Certifications (required)
5 years of warehouse and inventory management in a manufacturing
environment with a proven ability
2 or more years of supervisory experience.
