Our client is the world leader in delivering innovation in communications,
mobility, information and entertainment. They provide superior broadband,
video and other wireless and wire line services to consumers, businesses,
governments and wholesale customers across the globe.
Our client has partnered with ASK staffing to find a for a
Telecommunications Engineer for a 5 months contract working out of their
facility in Richardson.
*Support clients Global Equipment Engineering and Implementation (GEEI)
organization and their role in the Network Inventory Data Integrity (NIDI)
*The GEEI NIDI group is reconciling field audits of telecom network assets
with the company's Engineering Tool 'ICON'.
*The initial scope of the program is the Layer 1 Transport Network, the
cable and fibers they use and the resulting DWDM, Amplifier and
Transmission systems.
*Data Accuracy and End to End Connectivity, both physically and logically,
are the primary focuses.
*The end result of this program will allow telecom to plan, engineer,
maintain and monitor the network efficiently.
The following network concepts will be employed:
*Network Equipment components - Rack, Shelf, Cards and Optics
*Wavelength, Cable and Fiber usage
*Port Connectivity
*Transmission System Diversity
*End to End connectivity

Specific responsibilities include:
*Track and Report on the progress and issues with the parallel effort of
Field Audits performed by other organizations
*Analyze completed redlined field audit for completeness and compare to
ICON data.
*Reconcile ICON to match field data while ensuring the data is accurate and
*This will require the candidate to learn the various network elements in
telecom Layer 1 Transport network.
*Transmission equipment that will be updated includes but is not limited to:
*ALU 1648SM, LambdaXteme
*Ciena Sentry 1600, Multiwave 4000, CoreDirector, 5430, CoreStream,
ActiveFlex 6500
*Cisco 15454
*Fujitsu FLM600, FLM2400, FW4100, FW4500, FW7200, FW7500, FW7600, FW9500,
*Nortel OC-12, OC-48, OC-192, Optera DX, Optera, LX, MOR, MOR+, OM5200, OME
*Passive WDMs (multiple vendors)
*Pirelli Optical Post Amp, T-31 2X2 & 4X4 BDLA
*Siemens TransXpress Amplifiers, HIT 7500
*Create/Modify Logical parameters such as TIDs, GNEs, DCCs, and IPs
*Create/Modify cables including fiber count, splicing, optical patching,
routes and paths
*Create/Modify Transmission systems including but not limited to:
*2F-BLSR, 4F-BLSR, 2F-UPSR, point-to-point 1+1, point-to-point N;1, route
diverse 1+1, folded rings, 4X2.5G Muxponder, 4X10G Muxponder, 10X10G
*Ensuring complete traversal (end-to-end physical connectivity)
*Create/Modify WDM, DWDM, ULH systems including but not limited to:
*Amp system names, path associations, amp segments, wavelength generation,
channel assignments, system assignments, muxponder assignments, MOTR system
names and associations
*Ensuring complete traversal (end-to-end physical connectivity)
*Create/Modify passive equipment such as Fiber Distribution Bays (FDBs),
patch panels, fiber trays, including connections to/from other equipment
*Ensure that the network equipment being entered meets applicable
engineering standards.
Qualifications :
*Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication, Network Engineering or a related
technical field
*Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
*5-6 years of experience in a technology company.
*Familiarity with SONET and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM)
*Engineering Database entry and troubleshooting experience
