Senior Security Operations Engineer

TITLE:       Senior Security Operations Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL and the other is for Wilmington, DE.
Duration: 6+ months with chances of extension
  • Provide creative solutions to resource entitlement issues raised by business leaders.
  • Collaborate with IT units and auditors to validate and verify audit findings and/or deficiencies.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams along with individuals from IT Infrastructure and Application Development to design and implement security solutions as prioritized by management.
  • Collaborate with other regional data security personnel, located around the globe, to definition and implement global standards, solutions and best practices.
  • Stay current on relevant security regulations, laws and technologies in an effort to manage solutions as required.
  • Conduct assessments of existing security controls and recommend changes to policies and standards.
  • Support remediation plans to deliver corrective actions as planned.
  • Create implementation plans with well defined and measurable milestones; track and report progress to senior management.
  • Develop metrics and key performance indicators to depict strengths and opportunities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and consultative support with regards to the client’s Identity Governance program.
  • Support of the existing Security platforms including encryption, patch management, vulnerability management and security awareness.
  • Leverage technical capabilities to identify enhancements to existing security controls, with a primary focus on ID management related controls.
Technically skilled individual with: 
  • 5+ years, hands-on, broad-based information security experience
  • 3-5 years technical experience across multiple platforms (i.e. Mainframe, k)
  • Strong results orientation and organizational skills
  • Customer service driven
  • Collaborative with the ability to achieve impact and influence
  • Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency and a high-degree of initiative and professional judgment
  • Proven track record of problem solving and successfully implementing cost effective solutions 
  • Ability to provide periodic off-hour and weekend support for critical security matters
Good to have:
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and/or equivalent
  • BS in Computer Science or other related disciplines
  • PMP or other project management certifications
  • Knowledge of the Aveksa Identity Governance tool set or similar solutions
  • Knowledge of Symantec PGP encryption suite
  • Knowledge of the Vormetric encryption suit
